Low Calorie Starbucks Drinks (2026 Guide)

The best low calorie Starbucks drinks are the unsweetened ones: a Grande Cold Brew has 5 calories and a Grande Caffè Americano has 15. If you want milk, a Grande Iced Caffè Latte with nonfat milk comes in at about 93 calories, and a Tall Cappuccino is 100.

Low calorie does not have to mean plain black coffee, though. Most of the difference between a 100-calorie drink and a 300-calorie one comes from four things you choose at the counter: the size, the milk, the number of syrup pumps, and the topping. Below are 15 low calorie Starbucks drinks under 150 calories, followed by the changes that cut the most calories from the drinks you already like.

Every number below comes from the same model as our Starbucks calorie calculator. "Official menu" rows are Starbucks US nutrition for the standard recipe. "Estimate" rows start from that recipe and swap one or two ingredients using published ingredient labels, so treat them as close approximations rather than a café-certified label.

A few patterns stand out. Unsweetened coffee is almost calorie-free. One pump of syrup adds about 20 calories. Nonfat milk takes roughly 30–55 calories off a milk-based Grande, and choosing a Tall instead of a Grande often matters more than any single swap.

Lowest calorie iced Starbucks drinks

Cold Brew (5 calories, Grande) is the lightest drink on the menu we track. It is steeped rather than brewed hot, so it tastes smoother than iced coffee, but it is not mild: a Grande has about 205 mg of caffeine. Adding one pump of vanilla brings it to about 25 calories.

Iced Caffè Americano (15 calories, Grande) is espresso and water over ice. Along with the hot Americano, it has the most caffeine of any drink here (about 225 mg), with no sugar.

Iced Caffè Latte with nonfat milk (about 93 calories, Grande) is the lowest calorie way to get a milky iced coffee. The standard 2% version is 130 calories, already lower than the hot latte because ice takes up part of the cup.

Iced Matcha Latte with nonfat milk (about 105 calories, Tall) is the lightest tea option. The standard Grande is 190 calories and 25 g of sugar, because matcha is sweetened by default; sizing down saves more than the milk swap.

Low calorie hot Starbucks drinks

Caffè Americano (15 calories, Grande) is the hot counterpart to the iced version and has the same caffeine.

Cappuccino (100 calories, Tall) has more foam and less milk than a latte, so it is lighter at every size. A Grande Cappuccino with nonfat milk is also about 100 calories.

Flat White with nonfat milk (about 100 calories, Tall) is the biggest single saving on this list. The standard Flat White uses whole milk and is 170 calories as a Tall; switching to nonfat takes off about 70.

Caffè Latte with nonfat milk (about 105 calories, Tall) keeps the classic latte with 10 g of protein. The standard Grande is 190 calories; a nonfat Grande is about 135.

Sweet Starbucks drinks with fewer calories

If you order for the flavor, you do not have to give it up. Reduce the parts that carry the calories and keep the rest.

Caramel Macchiato, nonfat milk and 1 pump (about 130 calories, Tall). The standard Grande is 250 calories with 33 g of sugar. Nonfat milk and two pumps instead of three bring a Grande to about 179 calories.

Chai Latte with nonfat milk (about 115 calories, Tall). Most of a chai latte's 31 g of sugar (Grande) comes from the sweetener in the chai rather than the milk, so the milk swap lowers calories but not sugar.

Caramel Frappuccino without whipped cream (about 140 calories, Tall). Whipped cream adds about 120 calories in our portion model. A Grande Caramel Frappuccino is 380 calories as served, or about 260 without the whip.

4 changes that cut the most calories

  1. Order one size smaller. A Grande Caffè Latte is 190 calories; a Tall is 150 and a Short is 100. For a Caramel Frappuccino, Venti to Tall saves 210 calories.
  2. Switch to nonfat milk. In a Grande latte this saves about 55 calories. Nonfat is not lower in sugar, though: milk sugar is about the same in every dairy milk, and our nonfat label proxy has slightly more per cup than 2%.
  3. Ask for fewer pumps. Each full pump of syrup is about 20 calories and 5 g of sugar. Going from three pumps to two is a small change in taste but adds up if it is a daily drink.
  4. Skip the topping. Whipped cream is about 120 calories and cold foam about 136 in our models. Adding cold foam turns a 5-calorie Cold Brew into a roughly 141-calorie drink.

You can try every one of these on your own order in the calculator: pick the drink, change the size, milk, pumps, or topping, and it shows the calories, sugar, and caffeine next to the standard recipe.

What to watch out for

Low calorie is not low caffeine. The two lowest calorie drinks here, Americano and Cold Brew, also have the most caffeine (about 225 mg and 205 mg in a Grande). If you are cutting both, a Tall tea latte has far less.

Oatmilk is not automatically lighter. In our model, switching a Grande latte from 2% milk to oatmilk adds about 14 calories, with less sugar and much less protein.

Calories are only one number. If you are tracking calories for weight loss or a health condition, use these figures as a starting point and check with a professional for advice that fits you. This guide compares orders; it is not a diet plan or medical advice.

How to order a low calorie Starbucks drink

Say the size, the drink, the milk, and the pump count, in that order. "Grande Caramel Macchiato with nonfat milk and two pumps" is easier for a barista to make exactly than "a lighter macchiato." If you track your drinks, save the full recipe rather than just the calorie number, since the same drink name can describe very different orders.
